ONCE: Arthur Darvill & Joanna Christie Perform Falling Slowly at Sing For Hope
Broadway Symphony - Don’t Quit Your Night Job 3/27/08
hi guys just a quick update i know i haven’t been posting a whole lot recently but i like to blame that on the fact that my school has been on point with the cheap tickets to shows so i’ve actually been seeing a lot of shows. i saw kinky boots last week and lOVED it. i had very high expectations, and it exceeded every one of them. such a wonderful, upbeat musical. it reminded me a lot of hairspray in the best way possible
yesterday, i saw big fish and oh wow i was a mess at the end. i was not expecting it to be that sad. norbert was fantastic as always, as was the rest of the cast, and the sets and costumes were beautiful, but the music was kind of meh for me. it’s a shame to see it close so soon, though.
also after big fish my friend and i went to the return of don’t quit your night job. i’ve posted a few of past dqynj bits on here, but that doesn’t even begin to describe my love for this improv musical show. we happened to get a seat right at the front of the stage, and the keenan-bolgers sat at the table right next to us (which made for a lot of awkward eye contact with akb). basically everywhere i looked in the audience there were broadway performers i admired ( including krysta rodriguez and wesley taylor). the guests (zachary levi, celia keenan-bolger, richard kind, jennifer cody, and hunter forster, to name a few) were perfect, and i got to witness musical madlibs and ny2 shows which was like my dream to see at fifteen. it was pretty surreal.
there’s two more don’t quit your night job shows happening in december and january, so if you have the chance, you should definitely check them out.
